The title Invenies Occultum Lapidem comes from the 15th-century alchemical motto V.I.T.R.I.O.L, "Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem," or "Visit the interior of the earth, and you will find the hidden stone." This phrase alludes to both literal and symbolic journeys central to the alchemical pursuit of the philosopher's stone: the breaking down, refinement, and distillation of matter and the self, with the ultimate goal of transformation and enlightenment. In this composition, a central motif represents the human soul; it undergoes a series of transformations and is refracted through various textures and figures that may at times appear distant from their source. As it advances through each stage, the motif is altered, fractured, and reassembled, yet never lost, suggesting a soul evolving through experience while retaining its identity. This piece follows the traditional sequence of alchemical transformations, separated into two movements. Prima Materia (First Material) Nigredo (putrefaction), Albedo (purification) Quod Remanet (What Remains) Citrinitas (solar dawn), Rubedo (iosis)
